Preparation really matters

LAST MINUTE

If you don’t spend enough time on the preparation, it may lead to a total disaster. Do not execute it as a last-minute event.

PROPOSAL OUTFIT

Dress well! Don’t wear flip-flops or an old sweaty T-shirt! If you need advice for great matching outfits, don’t hesitate to contact me. If you are serious, you even can get in touch with our stylist. Make also sure your partner looks her best for the day! Create a cover story that she gets ready with makeup and hair too.

Outfit is important

NO PHOTOS

Don’t forget to hire a photographer to capture that moment when you get down on one knee. She will definitely want to keep some photo memories of her emotions when you popped the question. No matter if it’s just a friend with a smartphone or a pro, just do it.

BLABBING ABOUT THE PLAN

Make sure your / her family or friends don’t spoil the surprise. Keep it a secret! This mistake should be the #1 here!

DON'T MAKE IT BORING

Engagement needs emotions, and emotions live in details, so don’t rush with the question and create something extraordinary. It can be just you popping the question on your knee or a group of closest friends and family. You have so many options, with location, music, flowers, bubbles, literally anything.

PROPOSING IN PUBLIC

Be especially aware of this very private matter. Don’t plan something elaborate or over-the-top involving a large crowd of people if you know she would feel embarrassed. Do not propose in public if she is a natural introvert.

RUSHING ABOUT THE WORDS

Prepare a short and sweet monologue. Say her name first and tell her how much you love her. Don’t worry too much about making some slips of the tongue. Be as natural as possible, talk slowly, be clear, and breathe.

EMPTY YOUR POCKETS

Don’t carry wallets, keys, and cell phones in your pants pockets. Even when you don’t think they will show up in photos because they sure will.

Do You need help in planning because she deserves a fairy-tale proposal?

I wish I could read this post earlier but anyways, these are all great tips.

This is going to help a lot of people who are planning to propose. Discussing it with other people almost guarantees that it won’t be a surprise.

  3. Kuntala

These are wonderful tips! I never realized that so much goes into a wedding proposal before. That was a great tip about having things in your pockets. I’m sure not many people have thought of that.

  4. Leah

What a great article! I would never have even considered some of these things. I wonder if it is too forward to send this to my partner? LOL

Such great tips on your post for this topic. Now I only need a guy for me to read it 😀

Agree with most of these — except maybe for the ‘outfit’. I did not expect my now-husband’s proposal so I was dressed casually, and I think he didn’t want to tip me off so he dressed like his usual self too 🙂 Made it more “us” and more surprising!

  8. CA

I love some proposal videos but not all. As for myself, I think I would want the moment to be private, if it ever happens to me.

  9. Elise Ho

These are interesting tips. I am sure that they will be very helpful to anyone who wants to make sure they have photographs of their proposal although having a photographer there seems to give away the surprise.

  10. Claudia Blanton

wonderful tips! And yes, I agree, that you should not do this in public – do you really want someone to tell you in front of a lot of people no? That is a real chance, so why people put themselves into positions like that, is simply something I do not understand. Blessings

  11. Tracy Isidore

I can see this being very helpful for men as they seem to be very nervous about that day, lol Great ideas!

  12. Emman Damian

This is very important for young people who plan to get married and will propose soon. Will send it to friends! It might help or change their minds. 🙂

  13. Yudith Napitupulu

Love this list of errors. I’m thinking of proposing relatively soon and this article definitely helped me not make a blunder.
    Thanks!

Sometimes a spontaneous proposal is romantic! But definitely, I prefer something intimate and not surrounded by a huge crowd.
